Events

1st U.P. Bar Council National Moot Court Competition

The Institute organised its first moot court competition in cooperation with the Bar Council of U.P. This National Moot Court Competition was on Intellectual Property Rights related to Patent Law. The event was held on 28th -30th March 08. The competition commenced with the inaugural ceremony on 28th March, '08 which was presided by Mr. S. Gopakumaran Nair, Chairman of Bar Council of India while the Chief Guest was Hon'ble Mr Justice H.L Gokhale, Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court and the Guest of Honour was Hon'ble Mr. Justice D.P Singh, Judge Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court and former chairman, Bar Council U.P. 25 teams from all round the country participated in the competition.

The jury of the competition included an academician, a lawyer and a judge while the final rounds of the prestigious moot court competition was judged by luminaries like Hon'ble Mr. Justice Markandey Katju, judge of Supreme Court of India, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Pradeep Kant, Senior Judge of Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court, Mr. Chandrashekharan and Mr. Ajay Sahni. Government Law College, Mumbai and HNLU, Raipur made to the final which was won by Government Law College, Mumbai. The winners of the competition were awarded a prize of Rs. 20,000 which was sponsored by Lexis-Nexis while trophy for the best student advocate went to Priyam Aggarwal of University School of Petroleum and Energy Studies,Dehradun with a prize of Rs.5000 and the Best Memorial award was won by I.L.S., Pune who again won Rs. 5000.

The event concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony held on 30th March in the presence of Hon'ble Mr Justice Markandey Katju, Judge of Supreme Court of India, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Pradeep Kant, Senior Judge of Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court, S.C. Misra and many more. The event was a rejuvenating one especially for the students of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University who had their first experience in organising a moot court competition.

The efforts put in by the students of the host university as well as the participating teams was appreciated and acknowledged by one and all. The competition was a successful one which added a feather to the cap of the university.

REFLEXIONS 2008

Relexion is tha name of extra co-curricullar activity to promote the photography skills of the students of RMLNLU. Keeping this objective in mind the Magazine and Journal Committee had organized a photography competition REFLEXIONS 2008 On the occasion of the 59th Republic Day. On the basis of the entries received the best twelve pictures were selected which will be published in the first University calendar, REFLEXION 2008. Anvit Jain's (IVth Sem) picture was ranked highest followed by Prashant's (IVth Sem) at 2nd and 3rd position.
