DR. RAM MANOHARLOHIYA NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY WINS INTERNATIONAL AIR LAW MOOT COURT COMPETITION
A team comprising of Aj Agrawal, Abhishek Dwivedi &Charu Singh representing Dr. Ram ManoharLohiya National Law University won the 7thedition of Leiden Sarin’s International Air Law Moot Court Competition, 2016 that was held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 7th to 10th April, 2016. They defeated the National University of Singapore in the finals to secure their win. Aj Agrawal was also adjudged “Best Oralist” for the Competition. The teams got to argue before abench of three experts in international civil aviation law.In order to qualify for the international rounds of the Moot, the team had participated in and won the National Rounds of the Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition held at Army Institute of Law Mohali, Chandigarh on 13th February, 2016.
In addition to this, the three winners have been offered an opportunity to intern with the International Civil Aviation Organization at Montreal, Canada.
This Air Law Moot is one of its kind in the world, dealing with issues of International Civil Aviation and highlighting the related disputes under international law. This year’s competition saw participation by 23 teams from all over the world including countries such as Ukraine, Poland, France, China and others. This year’s moot problem was based around the legal issues surrounding a situation similar to that of the downing of Flight MH-17 over Crimea last year. The parties were required to present their dispute before the International Court of Justice.
The team thanked Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Gurdip Singh for his continuous support and guidance. The team was also highly appreciative of the organisers- Sarin Foundation and Leiden University who took great care to ensure that the moot was organised successfully.

12th European Law Student Association (Elsa) Moot Court Competition, 2014
Team comprising of Divya Chaudhary, Garima Prakash and Aayush Jain [Batch 2011-16] were adjudged as semi- Finalists at the Asia-Pacific Regional Rounds of the 12th European Law Student Association (ELSA) Moot Court Competition, 2014 held in Malaysia in March 2014 and have thus advanced to the World Rounds. The World Rounds will be held in Geneva, Switzerland. Divya Chaudhary also won the Best Orator award at the Asia-Pacific Regional Rounds.
55th Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (North India Rounds)
Team comprising of Roli Sharma, Smrithi Punnoose, Shradha Rakhecha, Aj Agrawal and Abhishek Dwivedi were adjudged as third best team of the 55th Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (North India Rounds) in January, 2014. The team won the award of the 2nd best memorial and Roli Sharma was adjudged as second best speaker.
5th Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition, 2014
Team comprising Aarushi Mishra, Shaurya Sahay and Renu Singh Shekhawat were adjudged as third best team at the National Rounds of the 5th Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition, 2014 and will be representing the University at the International Rounds in Bucharest, Romania.
Surana And Surana South India Rounds Of 18th Annual Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition
Team comprising of Nayan Jain, Ashika Verma and Apurva Vishwanathan won the best memorial Surana and Surana South India Rounds of 18th Annual Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition in November, 2013.
Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition (Isro India Funding Rounds And Asia Pacific Rounds) In May, 2013
Team comprising of Aj Agrawal, Veena Kamath and Abhishek Dwivedi advanced to the semi finals of Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition (ISRO India Funding Rounds) in May, 2013.
The team was adjudicated as quarter finalists in the Asia Pacific Rounds held in Tokyo in June, 2013.
4th Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition (National Rounds And International Rounds)
Team comprising of Nayan Jain and Apurva Vishwanath won the National qualifiers of the 4th Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition in February, 2013.
The team was selected to represent India at the International Rounds of the Competition held in Abu Dhabi in March, 2013 where the team was adjudged as the 5th best team.
54th Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, (North India Rounds)
Team comprising of Bhaskar Subramanian, Vartika Jain, Abhishek Singh, Mohit Pasham Reddy, Debdatta Ray Chaudhury and Siddhartha Singh was adjudged as Runners Up in the 54th Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, (North India Rounds) in January, 2013. Vartika Jain was adjudged as the 2nd Best Oralist and Bhaskar Subramanian was adjudged as the 4th Best Oralist. The team also won the 4th Best Memorial and the Spirit of Surana Awards.
17th Annual Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition (North India Rounds And International Rounds)
Team comprising of Roli Sharma, Smriti Punnoose and Shradha Rakhecha won the Surana and Surana North India Rounds of 17th Annual Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition in December, 2012. Smriti Punnoose was adjudged as the 3rd Best Oralist. The team also won the 3rd Best Memorial Award.
At the International Rounds held in Florida, in March, 2013 the team were the semi finalists and also bagged the 2nd best memorial award and Smriti Punnoose and Roli Sharma were adjudicated as the 5th and 6th best speakers respectively.
