An academician, poet and essayist, for women's cause, art, literature and cultural take, Dr Alka Singh is a faculty of English at Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University Lucknow. She has done her postdoctoral research work as a Visiting Scholar to Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, Paris, France under Indo-French Programme of Co-operation in Social Sciences.

Her areas of teaching, research and doctoral supervision are ESP, Communication Studies, Gender and Culture, Canadian Literature, New Literatures, India Studies, Law and Literature, English for Aviation and Language through literature. Besides her publications in reputed journals, and presentations in National and International conferences, she is a widely published author.

Dr Singh has contributed scholarly essays to different international knowledge volumes and encyclopedias like “Pop Culture in Asia and Oceania” published from Santa Barbara, California: ABC Clio, “Ideas and Movements that Shaped America: From the Bill of Rights to "Occupy Wall Street”Vol.1 Santa Barbara, California: ABC Clio, Encyclopedia of Human Services and Diversity, published from Thousand Oak: SAGE Publications, Encyclopedia of Native People of the World: Groups, Issues, and Controversies (3 vol.) published from New York: M.E. Sharp Inc. She has worked as an academic advisor to Contemporary Literary Criticism (CLC) Series of Layman Poupard Publishing LLC Columbia, USA for writing on ‘U.R. Anantha Murthy, and to Twentieth Century Literary Criticism(TCLC) Series’ for writing on A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen. She has addressed and done a fair number of keynote and plenaries for National and International Seminars and Conferences. She has delivered lectures for Short-term, Orientation and Refresher Courses at different UGC-HRDC Centers (Malviya Mission Teacher Training Centers) in the country. She regularly broadcasts radio talks on socio-cultural issues and publishes poems in collections and periodicals. As part of community and extension services she has been sensitizing students and public at large on women’s issues, health issues and other socio-cultural issues through theme lectures in seminars and workshops, radio-broadcasts, popular articles and other creative engagements through newspapers and online public information portals etc.

She has been a Member of the Editorial Board of English Matters, a journal of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Member Curriculum Development Committee for writing Nationalized Text Books for Secondary Level English, Board of Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh. She has designed and developed the curriculum and Course Module of English, and Language of Law for National Law University.

She has also worked as the Chairperson, Cultural Committee, Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Assistant Proctor, Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, Warden Girls Hostel, Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow. She has been a Member, Gender Justice Cell, Member, Sexual Harassment Complaints Committee, Member, Proctorial and Student Grievances Board, Member, Anti-Ragging Committee, Member, Website Management Committee, Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow . She has been the Coordinator of the Committee to organize Seminars, Workshops, Extra Mural and Special Lectures, Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow. Dr Singh has been the Media Spokesperson, Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow. She is the Life Member of The Association for English Studies of India, and The Global Association of English Studies. She has worked as Nodal Officer, Representing Dr RML National Law University, Lucknow (nominated by the Vice Chancellor) Neeti Chintan organized as a joint venture of UP Police and All India Police Foundation on 09-09-2017.

Dr Alka Singh is Official-in charge, International Student Advisor of the Office for International Affairs, Dr RML National Law University Lucknow. She has been the Faculty Advisor to the Selected Team of Scholars from RML National Law University, Lucknow that procured prestigious United Nations Millennium Fellowship 2021& 2022. Her Book "Colours of Blood" is a globally acknowledged work of art and expressions on "Women's Health Issues and Menstruation with special reference to Sustainable Development", published and released via United Nations Millennium Campus Network and Global Academic Impact. Her hundreds of poems in English and Hindi have been anthologized in various creative volumes on crisis emotions, women's rights and spaces, nation's spirit, environmental issues and socio- cultural discourses on human conditions, values and vices. Dr Singh has served in the UP Global Investors Summit 2023 as a representative faculty (nominated by the Vice Chancellor, Dr RMLNLU Lko.) in the Department of Higher Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh. She is Chairperson, Indian Language, Culture and Arts Cell to facilitate NEP -2020.

Dr Singh has widely served literature across the globe. She has been celebrated for her poems and editorials in National Dailies and covering spaces uplifting national consciousness via national and international forums promoting art and literature. She is the recipient of twenty five awards/ honours/recognition including recent "Mission Shakti State Award"2021 from Government Of Uttar Pradesh, and "Samman Patra" for exceptionally contributing to National Education Policy 2020, academics, women’s cause and creative writings.

Dr Alka Singh is a celebrated author, acknowledged on different national and international literary fora & literature festivals. She is very soon coming up with her new writing enterprise for kids in a collection of poems called, TWIG.
