M.A., Ph.D. (University of Lucknow). Areas of specialization are Indian Sociology, Sociology of Politics, Sociology of Law, Rural Studies, and Democratic Decentralization. Organized many Seminars and workshops. His published works include four books and more than thirty reviews and articles. Books are Women Gram Pradhans and Village Governance: A Journey from 1995-2010 (2013), Reading Lohia: Perspective of the Youth ( ed.,2013), Debating Lohia: A Reader ( ed. 2016) and Samajik Starikaran ( ed.,2020).

Completed four important Projects on the issues of ‘Democratic Decentralization and Gender’, ‘Legal Impact Assessment’ and ‘ Environment and Social Impact Assessment’ funded by ICSSR, New Delhi, and Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Presently working on two projects relating to the issue of forest and forest dwellers in Uttar Pradesh. Extended consultancies to different organizations. Member executive in the Ethnographic and Folk Culture Society, Lucknow, India.

Member of the State Resource Group by the Department of Panchayati Raj, Government of U.P. Convener of the Research Committee (RC-07) on Adivasi and Tribal Studies of the Indian Sociological Society (2017-2020). Visiting Faculty at various Institutes and Universities. Member of the Governing Council, Academic Council, and Board of Studies of various universities and Institutes.
