Along with professional courses, the certificate course in foreign language also contributes in developing a bright career prospect in the corporate world. Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University Lucknow is also running certificate courses in three foreign languages, i.e. Spanish, French and German, for RMLNLU students. In the era of globalization, this certificate course will provide an additional opportunity for law students at the international level. This will be a non-credit course. The course aims to provide the students with the knowledge to meet the current requirements of the legal profession and the industry.

- Eligibility
- All Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University students are eligible to take admission. However, the Vice Chancellor may also permit outside candidates in special circumstances.
Fee : The fee for the course shall be Rs. 1500/-.

- INTRODUCTION TO THE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE:
- Basic knowledge of the origin of the language and basic cultural concepts.
- ORAL EXPRESSION
- Greetings, basic mannerisms, interacting and explaining a specific situation
- Sounds of the alphabets, intonation, pronunciation, accent rule, reading of passages and texts
- Telling the time and the weather
- Colours, numbers, days, months and seasons
- Vocabulary and phrasal expressions, usage of the appropriate verb in a specific phrase
- Difference and distinction between European Spanish and American Spanish
- Listening to native speakers via CDs (Spanish - on course and Collins guide to Spanish pronunciation) and watching movie (Volver) in the classroom
- WRITTEN EXPRESSION
- Script, alphabets, diphthongs, syllabication, written accent, punctuation, capitalization
- Conjugations of the verbs (Present tense): First (-ar ending), second (-er ending) and third (-r ending), racial changing verbs, irregular verbs, verbs SER, ESTAR, TENER, HACER and IR

- ASSESSMENT:
- Assessment would be divided into four parts:
- A class test which would be 10% of the total assessment.
- A written exam considering the completed course throughout the programme which would be 70% of the total assessment.
- Viva-voce which would be 15% of the total assessment.
- Rest of the 5% would include class performance.

- COURSE OBJECTIVE
- The French Language course accords to a method created for Indian students who are complete beginners in French and who wish to acquire verbal communication skills in current scenario. The course enables one to develop four skills in French i.e. Reading, Writing, Speaking & Comprehension.

- UNIT - I - GRAMMAR: Articles, Gender and Number of Nouns and Adjectives, Personal and Tonique Pronouns, Demonstrative and Possessive Adjectives Preposition and Adverbs, Pronominal Verbs Conjugation of Verbs of all the Groups in Present Tense and Introduction to Past and Future Tense, Interrogation, Negation and Imperatives. Name of days, seasons, months, colours, garments, body parts and numbers, Computer, Commerce & Marketing, Law & Court related Vocabulary & Terminology, Phonetics and Pronunciation.

The duration of the course shall be one academic year and consist of a minimum of 120 lectures
- The examination will be held once a year. The Examination for the certificate course consists of:
- A written examination comprising of 70% and
- An oral test comprising of 20% and class test and class performance 10%.
