The Debate and Discussion Committee at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow, stands as a cornerstone of the university's academic and extracurricular life. RMLNLU is renowned for its active debating society, and the Debate and Discussion Committee plays a pivotal role in nurturing this vibrant community. The committee organizes a variety of events that cater to students of all levels, from beginners to seasoned debaters.

One such event is Litigium, a dedicated debate competition specifically designed for first-year law students. This event offers a safe and supportive environment for newcomers to explore the world of debating, develop their public speaking skills, and learn the fundamentals of argumentation.

Summer Grand Intra competition provides a thrilling opportunity for Debaters to showcase their skills against fellow students from all the Batches. This prestigious event features a competitive atmosphere, attractive prize pools, and valuable networking opportunities. The reimbursement slots are awarded to students who participate in the Competition because of which while participating in any national parliamentary debates students can claim reimbursement of the expenses incurred during the debate. Debate Premier League a fast-paced and exciting debate competition that features a league format. Teams compete against each other in a series of debates, with points awarded based on performance. The Debate Premier League fosters a competitive and engaging environment for students to showcase their debating skills.

Beyond competitive debating, the committee is also planning to organize events that foster intellectual exploration and critical thinking. TedxRmlnlu will be organized for the first time this year with the theme of Tradition and Transition. The event brings together leaders and innovators to share their insights on how India's deep cultural history and can help India embrace modernity better in the 21st century.

TARK is another significant event that encourages students to engage in rigorous debates on contemporary political issues. This event aims to create better political discourse in the University. For those interested in the field of alternative dispute resolution, the Arbitration Weekend offers a unique opportunity to learn about the alternative dispute resolution process and its practical applications.

The Ram Manohar Lohiya National Parliamentary Debate (RMLPD) is a prestigious debate competition that attracts talented participants from universities across India. It is renowned for its excellent judging, challenging motions, and substantial prize money, making it a highly sought-after event among debaters.

The competition follows the Asian Parliamentary Debate format, where teams of three participants argue for or against a given motion. Teams are given 25 minutes of preparation time, develop their arguments, and strategize their approach. The judging panel is composed of experienced adjudicators who evaluate participants on various criteria, including matter, manner, style, and rebuttal skills. The judges assess the quality of arguments, the ability to engage with opposing viewpoints, and the overall effectiveness of the speeches.

RMLNLU's debating society has a rich history of producing exceptional debaters, and the Debate and Discussion Committee has played a crucial role in this success. The committee is responsible for releasing claims for various National Parliamentary Debates, debaters of the university can then apply to participate in the tournament. Beyond which the committee ensures that all the necessary information about the tournament is communicated to the participants. The committee is also conducting various debating workshops where experienced national as well as international debaters explain the nuances of debating to the participants. The committee's commitment to providing students with opportunities to develop their debating skills, engage in intellectual discourse, and build lasting relationships has contributed to the university's reputation as a leading institution in Indian Debating Circuit.
