Dr Alka Singh has obtained the degrees of M.A., M. Phil., Ph. D. in English, and Proficiency Certificate in French, and Certificate in Teaching English. Currently she is working on Canadian Legal Drama for D.Litt. in English. She has been a Visiting Scholar to Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, Paris, France under Indo-French Programme of Co-operation in Social Sciences for her postdoctoral studies on “Changing Gender Roles in Postmodern world.”
She has three books to her credit: Postmodernism, Gender Roles in Postmodern World, and Postmodernism: Texts and Contexts, and has published 24 research papers. She has presented 23 papers in National & International Seminars and Conferences, and has contributed articles to Encyclopedias of Native People of the World : Groups, Issues, and Controversies (M.E. Sharp: New York), Encyclopedia of Human Services and Diversity (Sage :Thousand Oak, USA), along with reviewing many books for journals of repute.
Dr. Singh is a Member of the Editorial Board of English Matters; a journal published byCentral Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and has been a member in the Curriculum Development Committee for Nationalized Text Books for Secondary Students under Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education, Allahabad. She has been trained in Recent Teaching Pedagogy for senior academicians. She is an expert for Proficiency of English Language for Aviation (PELA) for training Air Traffic Control Officers, under the aegis of Airport Authority of India. She is also associated with Gyanvani FM Channel 105.6 MHz as an expert on different issues related to literature, language, society, and human rights, along with commendable contribution to magazines and newspapers. She is the General Secretary of Akhil Bharteeya Gramya Vikas Evam Paryavaran Sanrakshan Sansthan, Barabanki for her interest in Community Services.
Dr Alka Singh is also working as Member Secretary, Innovation Incubator, and Member, Media Cell, Gender Justice Cell, Sexual Harassment Complaints Committee, Proctorial and Student Grievances Board, and Annual Report Committee of the University.
She specializes in Law and Language, ESP (English for Specific Purposes), Literary Theory and Criticism, Indian Writing in English, New Literatures in English and Cultural Studies.
